[The Anglican Church of Canada] May 11, 2005--Archbishop Peter Carney, Primate of Australia, has accepted Archbishop of Canterbury Rowan Williams' invitation to serve as chair of "The Panel of Reference" created in response to the request of the Primates Meeting in February.
Appointing as chair of the Panel of Reference Archbishop Peter Carnley - an outspoken liberal sympathetic to the views of liberals in the Episcopal Church USA and the Anglican Church of Canada, is like putting a fox in charge of the hen house. Carnley himself has been embroiled in theological disputes in his own diocese and has inhibited and deposed orthodox clergy.
