[The Church of England Newspaper] May 13, 2005--Neale Adams, a spokesman for New Westminster diocese, told us Bishop Ingham had received a legal opinion prior to instituting same-sex blessings that the rites were pastoral and not a matter of doctrine. “It appears now that the lawyers and the theologians may differ in some respects” he said. “It will be up to the General Synod to decide who is right”.
