UK Methodists To Perform Gay Union Blessings

http://www.365gay.com/newscon05/06/063005methodists.htm

[365gay.com] June 30, 2005--The Methodist Church has become the first major denomination in the UK to endorse same-sex unions. Leaders of the church in an historic vote agreed to allow ministers to perform blessing ceremonies for gay couples.

I do not see how the Methodist Church in the UK can reconcile this decision with its efforts to be reunited with the Church of England when the Anglican Consultative Council has joined the Primates in reaffirming the 2008 Lambeth resolution on human sexuality which declares that homosexual practice is not consistant with the teaching of the Bible and rules out the blessing of homosexual partnerships. It would appear that the Methodists are expecting the Church of England to cave in on this issue for the sake of reunification.
