[The Church of England Newspaper] November 2, 2005--The Archbishop of Canterbury has delivered his most passionate appeal for church unity at a meeting of over 100 Anglican leaders from Africa, Asia and South America. Fears that he was walking into a lion’s den on the eve of an historic schism over homosexuality in the Anglican Communion proved unfounded. Dr Williams spoke powerfully about how the unity, catholicity, apostolicity and holiness of the Church is to be found in the person of Jesus Christ. “Over and beyond all our anxieties about our structures, our anxieties about our ministerial order, our anxieties about visible unity, we should not forget the gift of the Spirit in the one lord,” the Archbishop declared.
