Archbishops' Council Laity election

[EV News] January 9, 2006--A few years ago a candidate stood for election as an officer of the House of Laity of the General Synod on the basis that he did not wish to see the places dominated by evangelicals. Given the current straits in which the Church of England finds itself this may seem an extraordinary claim. Nevertheless there is a perception that evangelicals now have the dominant voice within the Synod (but not the House of Bishops).

Of course, all this depends upon your definition of evangelical, but the recent house of laity elections suggest there is some truth in the perception
