[The Church of England Newspaper] January 19, 2006--One of the Church’s most senior bishops has delivered a fierce rebuke of the House of Bishops’ statement on Civil Partnerships, criticising it for undermining traditional teaching on marriage and calling it “unbiblical”. The Bishop of Rochester, the Rt Rev Michael Nazir-Ali, has written a letter to clergy in his diocese, laying out his concerns for how the statement will “severely test the Church’s discipline and stretch pastoral relationships to breaking point.”
