[The Church of England Newspaper] February 17, 2006--Plans for ‘Transferred Episcopal Arrangements’ will provide the framework for the Church of England’s move towards women bishops, despite warnings that it will “enshrine discrimination against women”. A majority of the clergy voted for the single clause measure to be explored further as an option that would ensure women were treated equally, but they were defeated as the rest of Synod heeded the call of the Archbishop of Canterbury.
