[The Church of England Newspaper] March 3, 2006--Muslims in Africa need to learn from their counterparts in the Western world, insists the Archbishop of Kaduna, Josiah Idowu Fearon, reflecting on the bloodshed in Nigeria. “Muslim citizens of this country wouldn’t get up and attack their fellow British citizens even as they are worshipping in Church,” he says incredulously. He is on a stopover in London on his return to Nigeria. Thankfully, in Kaduna state, where he lives, demonstrations against the controversial Danish cartoons of the Prophet Muhammad went off peacefully, unlike the 2002 riots over the Miss World pageant in which communal violence claimed many lives.
