[The Living Church] 19 June 2007--A June 5 letter to the House of Bishops from Presiding Bishop Katharine Jefferts Schori outlines details of the house’s September meeting in New Orleans.

The meeting will begin with a dinner on the evening of Sept. 19. Bishop Jefferts Schori wrote that “the planning committee during its recent conference call thought it would be important to gather as a community (bishops and spouses/partners) before formal sessions begin on September 20.”

Archbishop of Canterbury Rowan Williams will arrive following the bishops’ dinner. At its spring retreat, the House of Bishops requested that the Presiding Bishop negotiate a meeting with Archbishop Williams and the primates’ Standing Committee prior to the Sept. 30 deadline for a response to the primates’ communiqué.“

A group from the planning committee will work with Archbishop Williams and me to determine the format of the time we will have together,” Bishop Jefferts Schori wrote. She said that the formal part of the meeting will begin with the Holy Eucharist on the morning of Sept. 20. Archbishop Williams will depart the afternoon of Sept. 21.
