Why It Is All About The Bishops

http://descant.classicalanglican.net/?p=2914

[Drell's Descants] 7 June 2007--Of late, on the HOBD Listserv, there is a lot of to and fro over the fact that those mean and nasty Primates (read “bishops who happen to be the head of provinces”) of the Anglican Communion have imposed this September 30 deadline on the House of Bishops to respond, and what a problem it is that Bishops will need to dialogue with their dioceses during the summer when self-respecting Anglicans/Episcopalians don’t go to church anyway in order to respond to the Primates Communique, which is utterly unfair anyway as it was solely addressed to the House of Bishops. The Anglican Communion should wait for another General Convention to give their middle finger to the Anglican Communion, because our House of Bishops doesn’t speak for the Episcopal Church. Keep in mind, we are the Episcopal Church. Not the Presbyterian Church, where all pastors are bishops, not the congregationalist church, where no one is a bishop, and not some other church where we might have a bishop if we want to have one. Never mind that that the biggest complaint from the Episcopal left is the failure to abide by Diocesan boundaries which has everything to do with Bishops since we do not have a parish system in this country where you are bound to go to your neighborhood church (not that the parish system works anywhere in the USA). Forget about the fact that leftist groups in the Episcopal Church have placed huge significance on the first gay bishop, the first woman bishop, and the first Presiding Bishop within the Episcopal Church.
