The New Anglican Revolution

http://www.virtueonline.org/portal/modules/news/article.php?storyid=6827

[VirtueOnline] 4 Oct 2007--Just last week Time Magazine and the New York Times, among others, proclaimed the coming split in the American Episcopal Church. The proclamation comes in the wake of the American House of Bishops' predictable decision not to submit to the judgment of the senior Bishops of the Anglican Communion that TEC should stop consecrating practising homosexuals as bishops and blessing unions of same-sex couples.

Lost in the glaring media headlines is any awareness at all of a fissure within worldwide Anglicanism that cuts far deeper than even our profound theological and ethical differences. This divide lies in the area of what we will call "mission-competence."

The sad reality is that most American Episcopal churches, "orthodox" and "progressive" alike, are increasingly incapable of reaching a post-modern generation with the Good News of Jesus Christ.
