[Church of Nigeria News] 5 Jul 2008--Archbishop Greg Venables of the Southern Cone (South America ) said his decision not to take communion at the same table with revisionist bishops who tore the fabric of the Anglican Communion has not changed. Clarifying his proposed attendance at the 2008 Lambeth conference at a press briefing 27th June, 2008, he said as early as 2003 himself and Archbishop Peter Akinola sought a private audience with the archbishop of Canterbury to explain why they could no longer take Holy Communion with the revisionists. “I have not changed my position and I do not see why I should do so at Lambeth”

Abp. Venables however believes he needs to be at Lambeth in order to try to engage in discussion with those that have torn the fabric of the communion. Strangely though, he admitted that there had been very little real discussions in the past five years on the core issues and he does not think Lambeth will be different.
