[ABC PM] 12 Jul 2008--MARK COLVIN: The Anglican Church is facing more threats of fragmentation.

An English bishop wants the Pope to consider allowing his priests and his parishioners to defect to Rome.

He's the first bishop to announce the possibility of such a conversion, after the Anglican Church's decision to let women become bishops.

The Bishop of Ebbsfleet, the Reverend Andrew Burnham, says the people who go to his churches want Rome to throw them a religious lifeline.

The Bishop spoke to Europe correspondent Rafael Epstein
