[Telegraph] 23 Aug 2008--The report claims more than 50,000 women a year have deserted their congregations over the past two decades because they feel the church is not relevant to their lives.

It says that instead young women are becoming attracted to the pagan religion Wicca, where females play a central role, which has grown in popularity after being featured positively in films, TV shows and books.

To the woman who replied in the article that she believed women would throng back to the Church when women are bishops; all she need do is look at what it did to the Episcopal Church in the U.S., There are a great number of women who have been ordained as deacons and priests in the C of E, many of whom hold rather exalted/preferred positions but Church attendance continues to dwindle. It's a bit like solving a problem with a car, you isolate something that you think is a problem, replace the part and discover that it wasn't that at all. Dispensing with the Church because you believe it is not relevant the excuse in vogue at this time for some.
