[OneNewsNow] 23 Sep 2008--A bishop with the Convocation of Anglicans in North America says the decision of the Episcopal Church to depose a conservative bishop may be illegal.

Last week, the Episcopal House of Bishops voted to remove Bishop Robert Duncan from ordained ministry and accused him of abandoning the communion of the church. That action was taken a few weeks before a vote by the Diocese of Pittsburgh on whether to secede from the Episcopal Church. (See earlier article)

Bishop David Bena, with the Convocation of Anglicans in North America (CANA), says the action against Duncan may have been illegal. "Before a bishop can be deposed or...you might say 'defrocked,' he has to be inhibited for a period of six months or thereabouts," Bena explains.
