My Notes from the Closing Press Conference of the House of Bishops

http://www.anglicansunited.com/2008/09/my_notes_from_the_closing_pres.html

[Anglicans United & Latimer Press] 21 Sep 2008--The press was invited to join a conference call with 4 members of the House of Bishops today at the end of their meeting in Salt Lake City. The bishops that were available to answer questions were Presiding Bishop Katharine Jefferts Schori, Bishop of Central Pennsylvania Nathan Baxter, Bishop of Oklahoma Ed Konieczny (referred to as Bp. Ed) and Bishop of North Dakota Michael Smith. My notes follow:

The press conference began with opening Statements made by each of the Bishops:

Bp. Michael Smith, North Dakota: We are concluding a 3 day meeting; they have been very full days. We conducted painful business with dignity and respect. This morning, for example, we heard from 3 bishops in Houston, who are there concentrating on rebuilding the diocese from hurricane IKE (who came ashore last week and also Gustave, who came ashore in Western Louisiana two weeks prior to Ike). Our thoughts and prayers are with you now, and volunteers and dollars will be there to join that effort shortly.
