[National Post] 23 Sep 2008--Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is visiting New York and as usual, where the Iranian president goes, outrage follows.

The Iranian leader is attending the opening of the UN fall session. As the New York Times put it: “Once a year, the Israel-threatening, Holocaust-denying, nuke-building and child-hanging president of Iran, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, comes to New York for the opening ceremonies of the United Nations General Assembly ... It is the price that the city has to pay as host to the United Nations.”

A group of religious organizations that include Christian, Catholic and Jewish bodies are planning a protest on Thursday when Ahmadinejad is due as the guest of honour at a dinner hosted by another group of religious organizations, including the Mennonite Central Committee, Quaker United Nations Office, Religions for Peace, the American Friends Service Committee, the Episcopal Church and the World Council of Churches-United Nations Liaison Office who are hosting the event.
