Special Convention and Mission Consultation Details Announced

[The Episcopal Diocese of Pittsburgh] 9 Oct 2008--Following the October 4 vote of Diocesan Convention to realign with the Anglican Province of the Southern Cone, the Rev. David Wilson, president of the Standing Committee, announced that a special convention would be held on November 7 for the purpose of electing a diocesan bishop and conducting necessary business.

The special convention will be open to all deputies and observers, and will be conducted at the Marriott City Center, with registration running from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. The convention itself will be held from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m., with the primary task of electing a bishop to fill the position vacant since Bishop Robert Duncan’s purported deposition by the Episcopal Church on September 18. It is expected that Bishop Duncan will be asked to return to his role as chief shepherd of the Diocese of Pittsburgh.
