Quincy Synod Votes to Join the Southern Cone

[The Living Church] 8 Nov 2008--In two resolutions, clergy and lay delegates to the annual synod in the Diocese of Quincy voted overwhelmingly to remove The Episcopal Church from the accession clause of the diocesan constitution and to join the Anglican Church of the Southern Cone.

The Nov. 7 vote to leave The Episcopal Church was approved 41-14 in the clergy order and 54-12 by the laity. The offer to join the Southern Cone on a temporary basis was approved 46-4 in the clergy order and 55-8 in the lay order.
