Why the Sydney Decision was the right one.

[Anglican Mainstream] 7 Nov 2008--Sir, I was at the Sydney synod and I voted for the resolution af firming there are no Scriptural grounds to restrict administration of the Lord’s Supper to presbyters (priests). In fact I’ve been there year after year as we’ve debated the matter and the vote has always been the same, and I hope this year is the last time.

Unlike recent innovations in church practice and theology, which have been driven by feminism and the gay agenda and fly in the face of the plain reading of Scripture, Scripture is surprisingly silent about who, how and when the gathered Christian community should eat and drink in memory of Christ’s death for us. There is no reason of course, why priests should not administer the Lord’s Supper, and if we all still lived in 16th century England and understood the historical reasons for the restriction perhaps nothing would be wrong with the status quo.
