Ephraim Radner: An Open letter to the Covenant Design Group

http://www.standfirminfaith.com/index.php/site/article/19655/

[Stand Firm] 20 Jan 2009--I appreciated this article from Ephraim Radner over at the ACI. I'm especially pleased that he detailed the complete about-face by Rob O'Neill, formerly an erstwhile "adhering to Windsor" bishop.

The one thing I am puzzled over is his question about "what has changed" for Bishop O'Neill. The answer to that question was predicted over and over and over in the years preceding Lambeth. The Lambeth Meeting is what changed.

Once the Lambeth Meeting passes, people pointed out, the clock is -- and was -- reset. There is no reason -- no influence or pressure or political consequence -- for Bishop O'Neill to restrain his actions now.

He received his invitation.

He attended Lambeth.

He is in unclouded communion with Canterbury.

And ten years from now -- when the next Lambeth Meeting comes around, he'll be gone from his diocese. And so will Rowan Williams from his see.

But still -- regardless of that minor quibble or more of a question -- please read the entire thing.
