Where are the conservative lobbyists?

[Anglican Mainstream] 11 Feb 2009--Reports from the Primates’ Meeting in Alexandria signal that there is both a dearth of journalists covering the meeting and very few of the usual lobbyists in attendance. The now normal circus surrounding Primates’ Meetings has in the past resulted in high levels of security and fevered speculation on blogs and in news stories.

The last Primates’ Meeting in Tanzania was the high-point (or low, depending on your perspective) of such lobbying and expectation. In this case, as at the Lambeth Conference, there were minders all over the place, lobbyists and journalists were kept firmly in their place. At Alexandria however there is little interest and little need for security. There are only two lobbyists, both from Changing Attitude in the UK. American conservatives are surprisingly absent in contrast. The fact that only liberal lobbyists remain in the building might in itself however be a worrying sign.
