Queensland Flood Appeal Opens

The Archbishop of Sydney’s Anglican Aid has announced it has opened a Queensland flood appeal.

Anglican Aid has a range of international and domestic assistance programmes, as well as special emergency appeals as the need arises.

Archbishop Dr Peter Jensen said “Our hearts go out to those bereaved families and those still waiting for news of loved ones. Others have seen the floods sweep away their homes and livelihoods.”

“Anglican Aid provides an avenue for us to render assistance in a distinctly Christian way” he said.

The Director of Anglican Aid, David Mansfield says staff are fielding calls from people who want to donate to help alleviate hardship and help in rebuilding.

“It is fast approaching, if not already, the most destructive natural disaster we have seen in this country in terms of its impact on homes, livelihoods, infrastructure and long term economic, physical and emotional wellbeing.” said Mr Mansfield.

“Anglican Aid, through this Flood Appeal, will be able to help Christian partners on the ground to bring compassionate relief to many people worst affected by these floods.” he said.

Donations can be made by calling 1800 653 903 or through the quick donation page on anglicanaid.org.au.
