[The Philadelphia Bulletin] 22 Sep 2007--Bishop David L. Moyer persists in his ongoing local battle against the relaxation of Church tradition, both inside and outside the courtroom.Moyer, rector of the Church of the Good Shepherd in Rosemont, expects to begin proceedings in a Montgomery County civil court next month to determine whether his technical removal from the priesthood on Sept. 4, 2002 without a church trial can legally stand. The coming court battle underscores his lifelong toils for the preservation of longstanding Anglo-Catholic tenets. That those tenets merited such a dogged defense first became apparent to Moyer as he began his studies at Seabury-Western Theological Seminary in Evanston, Ill., in 1972. Many teachers and students of church doctrine were, to put it mildly, not so doctrinaire.
