[Stand Firm] 21 Jul 2008--Ruth Gledhill reports on Katie Sherrod's film titled "Voices of Witness Africa," which contains a number of interviews with gay Africans, and which will be screened or distributed to as many of Lambeth's attending bishops as Integrity can manage. (Be sure and read BabyBlue's post on it as well).
I'm sure there will be plenty of people reading this whose initial - perhaps even final - reaction will be to ask why I'm giving these folks any more publicity by linking to Ruth's post, to say nothing of actually embedding part of their film here. My answer is that I think it's important to know what our opponents are doing to further their agenda, and how coordinated their efforts are. Films made by Americans, that include interviews with subjects from several African countries, and are completed in time for events such as Lambeth, do not happen on a whim. They have to be planned, funding has to be raised, trips have to be organized, video shoots scheduled, hours and hours of footage logged, captured, and edited. If nothing else, it shows the length to which these folks will go in order to normalize homosexuality in this church.
I firmly believe it is important not to ignore these efforts, but to face them head-on, and through analysis and commentary strip away whatever mystique or power their makers would claim they have.
