Allowing Civil Partnerships would see Church of England mass exodus


Another split in the Church of England could be on the horizon.

The Government's consultation ended today in which various groups were invited to submit their responses to plans to let religious buildings hold civil partnerships.

It's a hugely divisive issue with some saying huge numbers would leave the Church if it ever allowed the ceremonies.

Denominations would need to opt in if they wanted to - meaning no group would be forced to carry them out.

Upon the announcement many churches stated they wouldn't be interested.

The Quakers however has opted in.

The Church of England has now submitted its thoughts to the consultation and released this statement.
