New Zealand: Hearing continues into Bishop's alleged gay discrimination

The Human Rights Tribunal continues its hearing today into allegations the Anglican Bishop of Auckland discriminated against a gay man.

Eugene Sisneros, an events coordinator for St Matthew in the City, has accused the Anglican Bishop of Auckland, Right Reverend Ross Bay, of preventing him from entering the Anglican Church's training or discernment programme for priests because he is unmarried and in a sexual relationship with his male partner.

Bay denies the allegation saying that Sisneros is unsuitable for ordination not because he is gay but because he is in a sexual relationship outside of marriage. Read more
