Thomas Cranmer (1489–1556) saw Scripture as a gospel book. To that end, he promoted the placement of the Bible in the vernacular in every parish church in the realm. Cranmer’s vision was of a Bible-reading, Bible-hearing, Bible-believing church. Is this a vision today’s churches, especially those prone to faddism, need to recover?
