Despite Widespread Economic Toll, Most Americans Still Favor Controlling Outbreak Over Restarting Economy, Post-ABC Poll inds

Nearly 6 in 10 Americans say the coronavirus outbreak has exacted a severe economic toll on their communities, but a majority of a divided country still says controlling the virus’s spread is more important than trying to restart the economy, according to a Washington Post-ABC News poll.

The United States is seeing division not only over whether reopening the economy should take priority over suppressing and mitigating the spread of COVID-19 but also over who will receive immunization if a safe and effective vaccine is developed. These divisions are one of the reasons that church leaders cannot assume that the United States will be virus-free sometime in the near future and must make plans for their churches that take into consideration this reality.
