Every Sunday and feast day on the Christian calendar has two eves. The first eve is the evening before the Sunday or feast day and the second eve is the evening of that Sunday or feast day. We begin our observance of a Sunday or feast day on the first eve, and we conclude our observance on the second eve. In a number of Christian traditions, it is customary to begin and conclude the observance with a service of evening prayer.
