Anglicans appeal for help as children continue to starve

Anglicans in Africa have launched an appeal for financial aid for people affected by the food crisis in the Horn of Africa. The appeal came after a two-day meeting in Nairobi last week.

The meeting was convened jointly by the Anglican Alliance, and the programme co-ordinator of the Council of Anglican Provinces of Africa (CAPA), Emmanuel Olatunji. The director of the Anglican Alliance, Sally Keeble, said that it sought “to find ways to improve the situation for people in the Horn of Africa, both now and in the long term”.

The Archbishop of the Province of the Indian Ocean, the Most Revd Ian Ernest, who chairs CAPA, said that the appeal “will be used to support local partners that are working in the affected areas. . . This appeal will extend up to the end of 2012.” To read more, click here.
