From what I have observed to date, the US population is responding to the coronavirus pandemic in one of two ways--denial or panic. Some members of the population for whatever reasons are dismissing the seriousness of the pandemic while others are over-reacting in a variety of ways, e.g., hoarding--purchasing far more food and other essentials than they can possibly use even in a protracted emergency. The pandemic is serious and we should respond to it with appropriate seriousness, seeking not only to safeguard ourselves and our families but also to protect the more vulnerable members of the population. In addition to a link to the Vox article about the seriousness of the coronavirus, I have included links to three videos on handwashing, an article on the natural origin of the virus, and an article on the viability of the virus. An easy way to make sure that you are washing your hands for twenty seconds is to count "one rhinoceros, two rhinoceros, three rhinoceros, and so on until you reach twenty rhinoceros. Be sure to use hot water and soap. Water alone will not do the job. The video "Do the Global Handwashing Dance!" was made to teach young Japanese children how to wash their hands. Japanese children are also taught to spray their hands with alcohol after they have washed them.
