In earlier research that he himself conducted, Thom Rainer also found that the quality of the music was a factor in why formerly unchurched people had decided to attend a particular church. By quality, he was not referring the style of music: sometimes style and quality are confused. He was referring to its degree of excellence. The quality of the music and the time and efforts that a church put into achieving that degree of excellence conveyed to unchurched visitors the impression that the church took worshiping God seriously.
