Canada Anglicans to sit out council over gay clash

[Reuters] May 7, 2005--To cool tensions caused by its blessing of same-sex unions, the Anglican Church of Canada on Saturday agreed to honor a request by worldwide Anglican leaders to sit out a global council meeting.

The representatives of the Anglican Church of Canada will be "attending but not participating" like the represenatives of the the Episcopal Church USA. I do not believe that that this is what the Primates were saying when they asked both churches to withdraw from the Anglican Consultative Council. This and the failure of the Anglican Church of Canada to place a moratorium on same sex blessings are a form of passive aggression, seemingly complying to the Primates' request but in reality defying it. I hope that the global South Primates see through what the North American churches are doing.
