[Times Picayune] May 14, 2005--The controller of the Episcopal Diocese of Louisiana has acknowledged embezzling church funds for several years and has begun making restitution, Bishop Charles Jenkins has told his clergy in southeast Louisiana.

Selwa Perry's husband Rex Perry has a sordid history of his own: he was arrested for making sexual advances toward another man - an undercover police officer in Houston, Texas. He is a leading advocate of gay rights in the Episcopal Diocese of Louisiana and figured prominently in the "Claiming the Blessing" meeting before the 2003 General Convention.
