[Church Times] December 30, 2005--Gay clerics are among the best in East Anglia, said the Bishop of St Edmundsbury & Ipswich, the Rt Revd Richard Lewis, this week. The Bishop also backed the new civil-partnership legislation, and urged people to affirm gay clergy.

Methinks Bishop Lewis is trying to rationalize away sin. Character is an essential qualification for ordained ministry. As long as gay clergy are sexually active with a member of the same sex - even in their imagination, they lack the right character to serve as deacons, priests, and bishops in the Church and as examples to their flocks.
