[The Church of England Newspaper] January 13, 2006--A local council has banned a Christian charity administrator from serving on an adoption panel because his religious beliefs mean he will not support same-sex couples adopting. As new adoption laws come into force, the sacking of evangelical Christian Ed Greening has provoked fury from family rights groups and Christian agencies, with critics claiming that the welfare of children is taking second place to the pursuit of gay rights, and one MP denouncing the move as an “evil” attack on family values.
