[Telegraph] March 6, 2006--The timing of the Archbishop's remarks will be seen as an 11th-hour appeal to the American Church to pull back from the brink at its General Convention in Ohio.
The Americans are under pressure to agree to a moratorium on future consecrations of gay clerics and the blessing of homosexual "marriages".
Many parts of the American Church appear determined, however, to pursue a liberal agenda despite the warnings of the Archbishop.
