2006 General Convention Wyoming Deputies Urge PB reject Primates' Communique'

[Stand Firm] 13 Mar 2007--We are called to be a progressive and forward looking church that believes in inclusiveness and promotes tolerance. We have always tried to be a church that includes a diversity of people gathered in common worship. It is clear that any move to appease some of the primates only results in more restrictive requests. Pausing from or denying ordinations and blessings of our gay and lesbian members betrays ourbaptismal covenant and our non-discrimination canons.

Does The Episcopal Church's "baptismal covenant" and non-discrimination canons trump the teaching of the Bible? Clearly, Wyoming's deputies think that they do. However, the "baptismisal covenant" and the non-discrimination canons are the "traditions of men". I don't believe that our Lord commended the Pharisees for nullifying the Word of God for the sake of their traditions.
