The Crisis in the Episcopal Church

[CBN News] 5 May 2007--It would be easy to conclude that the current crisis is only about homosexuality. It's not. I believe the Episcopal church's embrace of homosexuality is a symptom of a much larger problem: the denomination's rejection of scripture as the final authority of the rule of faith.

One wonders what Episcopalian leaders think when they read the church's historic doctrinal document, The 39 Articles of Religion, when it states that the scriptures' "authority has never been doubted within the church."

I grew up in a mainline Protestant denomination that, unfortunately, has gone down the same path of the Episcopal Church. I made the painful decision eighteen years ago to leave because my local church and many others like it were unfaithful to the Word of God.
