What case? Gay unions and the Anglican Church of Canada

http://www.anglican-mainstream.net/?p=1805

[Anglican Mainstream] 20 June 2007--The following is an excerpt from Dr Rob Gagnon’s latest piece of work (19 June 2007). The Canadian General Synod is presently meeting in Winnipeg. Each of its delegates was sent Dr John Thorp’s document, ‘Making the Case’. However, Rob argues that no successful case has been made. Read both and see for yourself.

Canada is in the cultural vanguard of the West, no doubt of that. Will it be a religious trendsetter as well? For these progressives, it is high time. Religious conservatives, relics from a pre-modern past, need to shut up and shut down; their cause is doomed, their time has gone. For others, if Thorp’s type of approach wins the day, it will effectively denature and deconstruct the essentials of the historic Christian faith, essentials which are as relevant, necessary and important now as they were in the past. They hear echoes of Roberta Flack’s haunting ‘Killing Me Softly’ (73 R&B hit) when they mentally fast-forward to what awaits the Church if this heritage is lost.

Canadian Anglicans: the decision is yours.

And now from Rob....
