ENDA: Coming to the US - but offering global lessons

[Anglican Mainstream] 9 Nov 2007--The US Christian organization, Focus on the Family, has recently raised concerns about the ENDA, pro-gay legislation which has received minimal attention from the Christian community. Why the paucity of interest? ‘Just “preach the gospel”‘; ‘Our church does not “do” politics’; ‘Simply no time’ - and so forth - are some reasons. I sympathize!

Trouble is, the gay political agenda is not static but rather rapidly advancing onto the centre-stage, into mainstream culture and the workplace. From there it is but a step to the plethora of community-related church activities (e.g. Guides, Scouts, Toddlers) which will be targeted, terminating in the very heart of the sanctuary itself. Perhaps you doubt me? Then ask yourself if openly misogynistic or racist advocates are allowed to lead such groups. Are they? Hopefully not, please God! However, those who do not approve of gay sex are increasingly being tarred with the same brush, identified as just as unacceptable and unfit to be in charge of community-related events. What becomes banned from the public realm where the church interfaces with society eventually becomes banned in the sanctuary itself (so, a church preaching dreadful KKK beliefs in its Sunday morning at 11, ‘religious’ slot, say, would do so in defiance of the law and not be allowed to continue for long).

But returning to our LGBTs - their incremental approach is presently being deployed and working to perfection. We are in the midst of it as I write. Have a peek at, say, the largest American gay civil rights site, the Human Rights Campaign, http://www.hrc.org/. For the LGBT communities, their day is nigh: ENDA is but one example. In the main, those who disagree duck, shrug, yawn, fidget, change the topic, whatever: but nothing happens.

Silencing those who oppose the normalization of homosexuality in American society is a intergral part of the so-called "gay rights" agenda.
