Created in the image of God - Jane Holmes Dixon

[Anglican Mainstream] 11 Jul 2008--

Ms Holmes Dixon appears to miss more points than one here - starting with the complete lack of awareness of why traditionalists’ concerns should be respected and honoured instead of rubbished. In matter of fact, the very same arguments used to force traditionalists to put up or pack up will be used to silence moral conservatives in relation to active gay bishops in the CoE. Dixon gives the game away - see below. How will open evangelicals who voted for women bishops on Monday respond when asked to ordain active gay bishops? And what about ordaining active bisexual bishops? They are made in God’s image too, are they not?

I think the decision to ordain women as bishops speaks volumes about the Anglican Church’s respect for the dignity and worth of women. Now we must move further to embody the biblical witness of all being created in the image of God by fully including our gay and lesbian brothers and sisters.
