[OneNewsNow] 20 Oct 2008--Outside of the presidential race, a good deal of national interest is being focused on Proposition 8 -- a voter initiative designed to amend the California constitution and overturn that state's Supreme Court ruling that legalized homosexual "marriage."

Opponents of traditional marriage have been ahead in recent polls, but "Yes on 8" spokesperson Chip White says the picture is a bit different now. "Well, it has been a turnaround, and we are in a time of momentum right now. The polls show us ahead," he contends. "Financial contributions show us outpacing our opponent, and our television ads are driving home the message of the importance of supporting traditional marriage."

Campaign workers are still out in the field and will be until Election Day because, according to White, that is ultimately the only poll that will count.
