[allAfrica.com] 21 Oct 2008--Two new Bishops were last week elected by the Anglican Church.

Bishop Augustine Ahimana was elected to represent the newly created Kivu Diocese, while Nathan Gasatura will head the Butare Diocese.

Talking to The New Times yesterday, Rev. Ahimana said that he would focus on the economic and spiritual growth of his flock. He explained that his approach will entail validating ideas and coming up with the best solutions for problems in the society.

"Right now it is too early to have an agenda, but together- with prayers of course- we shall come up with a better plan of how to improve the community," Ahimana said. He underscored that the population needs to balance all aspects of life; growing economically as well as spiritually.

Kivu Diocese has over 60 Anglican parishes with approximately between 96,000 to 192,000 followers.
