[OneNewsNow] 13 Nov 2008--Washington's new assisted suicide law doesn't go into effect until July of 2009, but medical personnel are already refusing compliance.

A number of doctors and hospitals, including the largest in the state, and hospice programs are announcing they will not take part in assisted suicide. LifeNews.com reports Providence Health and Services, eastern Washington's largest medical system, has stated it will prohibit staff at its medical facilities from killing patients. A spokesperson for Providence says the company's position stems from "basic values of respect and sacredness of life."
