Malala Yousufazi, 14-Year-Old Shooting Victim, Moved to UK for Recovery


The young blogger, Malala Yousufazi has been transferred to the United Kingdom for further medical treatment, as well as for her own protection from the Taliban. The 14-year-old was shot in the head and neck by members of the Taliban seeking revenge for Yousufzi's outspoken blog detailing life under the harsh regime.

"It was agreed by the panel of Pakistani doctors and international experts that Malala will require prolonged care to fully recover from the physical and psychological effects of trauma that she has received," a military aide told the Associated Press.

Yousufazi was moved from the country under the protection of darkness and was escorted by military personnel. The United Arab Emirates provided the specially equipped aircraft needed for transportation.

Members of the Taliban shot the young girl in the head and neck last week after contually speaking out against the Taliban's harsh regime and treatment of women and girls. She was specifically targeted by the regime while on her way home from school. Read more
