[Stand Firm] 28 Feb 2007--As you know, the Episcopal Church has, for over thirty years made a pastoral and not a juridical response to those who oppose or cannot accept the ordination of women. Even since the 1997 amendment no one has been disciplined for failure to follow the Canons on the ordination of women. Many, many people have spent extensive time and energy privately, locally at the diocesan level, and through groups tasked by General Convention to work pastorally on the situation. We continue to do so.
