Jason K. Allen: Revolutionize your life


With the end of the calendar year quickly approaching, the season of self-reflection, life assessment, and New Year's resolutions will be upon us. In addition to commitments to lose weight, spend more time with family and take control of one's schedule, many Christians will seek to recommit themselves to their Christian walk. Such recommitment is good, and if done wisely can take one's Christian life to a new level of vibrancy and faithfulness.

As Christians, we are absolutely responsible for our growth in Christ, yet entirely dependent upon the Holy Spirit to foster such growth. This duality, one of the great paradoxes of the Christian life, is captured in Paul's exhortation to "work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. For it is God who is working in you, enabling you both to desire and to work out His good purpose" (Phil. 2:12–13).

Thankfully, God has made plain how we are to pursue godliness and how He works in us to this end. In fact, the secret to the Christian life is there is no secret. God has given His children spiritual disciplines like prayer, worship and especially Bible intake to nurture our sanctification. Keep reading
