New Anglican chapter for gays and lesbians

[Saskatoon StarPhoenix] January 7, 2005--The Anglican church has created a chapter for gays and lesbians in Saskatoon.

Known as Integrity, it is part of a nationwide organization working toward including gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgendered people in the Anglican Church of Canada.

Controversy erupted in November when Saskatoon Anglican diocese bishop Rodney Andrews cancelled a concert by a group of about 30 gay and lesbian singers.

After he changed his position days later and apologized for his decision in a pastoral letter, Andrews encouraged the creation of a Saskatoon branch of Integrity.
